Shenzhen grows strongly in IT industry

In the first three quarters, Shenzhen registered an 11.5 percent growth in gross domestic product (GDP) despite global financial turbulence.

Economy gets $586b investment package

Xinhua reported on Oct 9, presided by Premier Wen Jiabao, a State Council meeting has resolved that it is necessary to adopt “proactive” fiscal and “moderately loose” monetary policies now. The government has cleared a 4 trillion-yuan ($586 billion) investment package to stimulate domestic demand and boost the slowing economy till 2010.

IPOs disappear with no trace in uncertainty

Due to the drop down of share price and investor confidence, initial public offerings (IPOs), with no companies going public on mainland last month, have disappeared off the radar.

There were only 30 domestic companies going public in the third quarter this year, down 60.5 percent year-on-year, and the total funds raised on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges fell 86.5 percent year-on-year to $3.12 billion, based on Beijing-based investment research and consulting firm ChinaVenture. A 5-billion-yuan contract signed between COMAC and GECAS

A 5-billion-yuan contract was signed by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) to sell 25 ARJ21-700 regional jets to GE Commercials Aviation Services (GECAS) on November 4, which marked that China’s first homegrown jet would have a promising future in the overseas market.

Zhang Qingwei, board chairman of COMAC, said that the delivery will start in 2013 and the 70-90 seat feeder jet will have its first flight in mid-November. Read more…

Chinese Aircraft business breaks into North America

China will sell 25 jets to a US company, which is a “breakthrough” deal that marks the country’s entry into the big-plane market dominated by European and US players.

According to Guangzhou Daily on October 31, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (CACC) developed the ARJ21-700 regional aircraft independently, and will sign a 5-billion-yuan ($735 million) contract on Tuesday. Read more…
