Obama team highly value the talks
For this year, Washington has sent a “strong delegation”, including 11high-ranking officials to attend the Sino-US Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED) in China, said Daniel Sullivan, US Assistant Secretary of Stare for Economic and Business Affairs. This move speaks volumes for Obama team’s awareness of talks’ importance.
Sullivan, who participated in all the previous four SED meetings since the biannual mechanism was launched in 2006, arrived in Beijing the day before yesterday preparing for the last round talks under the Bush administration today and tomorrow.
The Bush administration has thoroughly briefed the incoming transition team of Barack Obama on the importance of the Sino-US Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED) which links policymakers on both sides, according to a senior US official.
Sullivan said that the transition on all issues from the current administration to the incoming administration is smooth. And the transition team briefing has focused on the importance of US-China relations.
The United States recognized the truth pretty broadly that the SED is important for both nations, Sullivan said.
