“Green” and “safety” highlight Fujitsu Forum

November 18th, 2008

Fujitsu China Forum 2008 will open in Beijing on November 20. It is an annual forum which covers an exhibition and a series of industrial symposia. It has provided an excellent platform for the Japan-based companies to showcase their leading-edge products and technologies.

“Green” and “safety” are the main theme of this year, so the forum will focus on eco-friendly and safety-enhanced technological solutions. As climate change becomes a common concern, Fujitsu has launched a project called “Green Policy Innovation” to reduce 7 million tons of carbon dioxide between 2007 and 2010, which will be absorbed annually by 500 million fir trees.

The IT company is seeking to reduce its own carbon dioxide by researching and developing environmentally friendly and energy-saving products. It tends to help its customers ease their burden on environment.

Safety management is another concern besides environment that has gained growing attention in recent years. “Safety Value” solutions proposed in Fujitsu have improved information safety and environment security in daily operations and strengthened backup support in case of emergencies like natural disasters of terrorism attacks.

Easier life
The company’s philosophy of environmental protection and safety management will be reflected at the upcoming forum with a wide range of IT products and services. One is real-time multi-spot temperature detection technology that can make the temperature distribution seen by naked eyes through monitoring heat from light.

The Internet data centre technology is used in air conditioner system so that it can help regulate temperature more efficiently at lower energy consumption. Earlier technology that supervises indoor temperature in fixed locations cooled air without discrimination. This caused cold excess and energy waste. The new approach can make use of energy efficiently through improving its self-adjustment of air conditioners.

Computer system for commercial vehicles is another technological solution from the company. It is designed to reduce costs and increase safety and efficiency in transportation, especially vital to logistics firms. With its strong database processing capability, the system can help formulate efficient plans for logistics distribution, know the location of a vehicle in real time, get data feedback on operational safety and evaluate business operations.

Visualizing risks
Controlling chemical pollutants is more and more important to industrial community. It is a crucial element of risk management. The company said, Fujitsu developed an e-Feins system. It can collect and analyze information about air and water pollutants, visualize environmental risks and provide backup for pollution control.

Fujitsu also provides an environmental system for administrative authorities that automatically monitors the quality of air and water, detects noise levels and pollution sources and analyzes the data. Besides, if some emergencies happen, for example, the pollutants exceed standards, pollutant-control machines stop working, or monitoring devices fail to run, the system can send warnings through short messages, voice services and text. Various formats of records can be provided by the system, including data, videos, pictures and geographic information.

In order to collect environmental information and process the data with Video-CasterPro, Fujitsu has set 24-hour robot cameras in many places in Hiroshima. The company’s goal of green IT solution not only include one company or one business environment, but to build eco-friendly and safe cities.

Continuing commitment
Fujitsu has paid special attention to environmental solutions and valued it as one of its priorities in all its operations since its founding in 1935. After the Japanese company entered the mainland market, its green philosophy has been brought to China.

Over the past decades, Fujitsu has established close collaboration with its Chinese partners with technological savvy and managerial expertise. The cooperative range includes telecommunication, computers, software development, semiconductors and hi-tech research.

“Fujitsu values China for its huge market growth potential,” said Igarashi Takashi, chief representative of the company’s operation in China. He also added, with their experience, their company is devoted to building up information network for Chinese companies and China.

Jointly invested by Fujitsu and its subsidiary Fujitsu China as well as two Chinese companies, Beijing Fujitsu System Engineering Co Ltd has ranked among top 25 in Chinese software outsourcing industry. Nantong Fujitsu Micro-electronics Co, which is specializing in integrated circuits, has set up its third stage project worth 500 million yuan in September after going public in Shenzhen last August.

Igarashi noted that Fujitsu China Forum is the only big forum the company has held outside Japan so far. The topics of Internet and information safety and how to reduce emission and save energy with IT system will be the focus at the upcoming forum.

“We wish to seek new business partners, expand cooperation fields and promote business modes for win-win results,” he said.
