According to the top manager of NASDAQ Group, the largest global exchange company the day before yesterday, they are trying to enter China’s stock market.

“We are contacting the China Securities Regulatory Commission and Shanghai Stock Exchange for a listing,” said Eric D. Landheer, head of Asia-Pacific at NASDAQ OMX Group. “And our commitments will continue despite the market turmoil.”

Netizen group in China

China Internet Network Information Centre (CNNIC) reported on Jul 24th that 253 million Chinese log on the Internet regularly making the country the largest web-user market. To put it another way, China has overtaken the US in terms of the number of netizens in the first half of this year, according to the semi-official organization, the most authoritative source of statistics on the country’s Internet users.

According to www.internetworldstats.com, there were 218 million net-users in the US till December 31, 2007, while China, 210 million. CNNIC estimated the number could have reached 230 million by the end of June based on the growth in the US.

Health list: China ranks NO.1 among developing countries

According to a Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) study group yesterday, China ranked 13th on a list ranking international health conditions. The composition of the tally is a Nation Health Index (NHI), and four branch indexes measuring populations’ metabolisms, immunities, nervous systems and behavior. China is determined as “qualified healthy”. “A nation is like a person,” said CAS’ study group leader Yang Duogui.
