Prospect of jobs becomes gloomy

According to the country’s top labour official, the bleak employment situation may worsen next year because of the global financial crisis. Minister of human resources and aocial security Yin Weimin also said that the unquiet labour is the “top concern” of the ministry.

Economic downturn makes job seekers lower expectations

Some visitors to a national job fair said on November 18 that layoffs and a shrinking job market have forced fresh graduates to lower their expectations of finding good jobs.

Organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and social security, the job fair began last Sunday, offering information on more than 520,000 vacancies for graduates, will travel to several major cities for two weeks.

Citigroup to cut 53,000 more jobs

After suffering massive losses from deteriorating debt, Citigroup Inc, is going to cut about 53,000 more jobs in the coming quarters as the banking giant struggles to steady itself.

This news has been posted on the company’s website. Moreover, at the town hall meeting of the company, the plans were being discussed by CEO Vikram Pandit in New York on Nov 17 with employees.

West cuts down on jobs, while Asia on pay

As a global recession starts to spread, employees in the west, from bankers to factory staff, face the gloomy future of losing their jobs. For the people facing the same prospect in the East, the suffering comes more from the pay cut.

Job-hunting being harder

Looming global financial crisis bring disasters everywhere. Many consider the future for the country’s fresh college graduates to be bleak. The terrible situation graduates face is divided into three parts as follows.

The first one is number of graduates. The official figures shows job hunter number will grow to 6 million with 7 percent increase of this year.
